Going to college can be stressful, especially for teens with food allergies and their parents.  This session will outline the inner workings of college and university food service and provide practical strategies to navigate the college food environment.  With a focus on reducing and anxiety and improving the safety and enjoyment of college life experience for students with food allergies, the presenters will provide real life scenarios specific to food allergy challenges.

In this interactive session, participants will have the opportunity to walk through “what if” situations, ask questions and practice potential solutions.  The facilitators draw on their experience specializing in college food allergy programs from both the large and small school viewpoint.

Participants will hear success stories of college students with food allergies who are not just surviving, but thriving in their new environment.  While always placing a high priority on safety, this presentation also addresses the social, emotional impact of having food allergies in college.
